LADWP’s Interactive Educational Facility Opens to the Public

Parc Office is proud to have designed and been a part of the team that brought the Customer Engagement and Sustainable Living Labs to the LA Kretz Innovation Campus.

Los Angeles Department of Water and Power’s (LADWP) La Kretz Innovation Campus is extending an open invitation to the community to tour the campus and learn how LADWP is leading by example to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and dependency on imported water. The Customer Engagement and Sustainable Living Labs at the La Kretz Innovation Campus showcase what LADWP is doing to be more sustainable and to create an inclusive green economy.

Developed with a commitment to sustainability, the La Kretz Innovation Campus is a living lab for new and emerging technologies, from electric vehicle chargers, rooftop solar panels, the cool pavement and micro-mobility pilots, and the storm water capture in the parking lot, to the microgrid that powers the facility. The campus also features the Customer Engagement and Sustainable Living Labs, an interactive exhibit space that showcases appliances and fixtures for visitors interested in learning about the latest in water and energy efficiency. The exhibits and interactive stations also highlight some of the things visitors can do at home and at work to be more sustainable to help fulfill the goals outlined in Mayor Garcetti’s Green New Deal Sustainable City pLAn.

Those interested in getting a first-hand look at the campus can sign up for a tour that includes:

  • An overview of the building’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and WELL Building Standard® features
  • LADWP’s interactive exhibits
  • The Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator and its collaborative work and office space
  • The renowned Advanced Prototyping Center
  • Art Exhibits
  • Arts District Park

Parc Office Designs Tiki Bar for Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship

Parc Office designed a modern, craft cocktail tiki bar for Royal Caribbean’s revitalization of the Mariner of the Seas. The bar, dubbed the Bamboo Room, is a part of a Royal Caribbean’s effort to explore new food and beverage options for their guests. The venue afforded Parc a new challenge: bringing the firm’s design perspective to a project on the high seas and consequently within the requirements of International Maritime Organization guidelines. Parc optimized space to facilitate operations, created rich textures with IMO certified materials, and thoughtfully selected decor that invoked a retro-chic atmosphere. Mariner’s first voyage after the overhaul will begin on June 25. Read more about the project in USA Today and the Orlando Sentinel.
